Win yourself a new body
TV star Vanessa Feltz has lost 4st with the help of personal
trainer Dennis Duhaney. Now you, too can win the chance
to work out with him for three months and transform your
figure
When TV presenter Vanessa Feltz was given a 12 week deadline
by her husband to slim down from a size 26, she turned
to professional help. She chose Dennis Duhaney, a fitness
trainer for the past 17 years. Dennis has a fantastic
ability to motivate anyone to work for the body they deserve.
Dennis says 'when I first started to train Vanessa she
could only walk for a few minutes and couldn't use a rowing
machine at all. But now, just a few months later, she's
exercising everyday and is doing brilliantly.
'I can help anyone who really wants to be helped. It's
going to be hard work, but if you're honest with me, we
can soon make a difference. I'll ask you ''Do you really
want this?'' It's you're answer that'll decide if you'll
succeed'.
Dennis's advice to anyone who's desperate to lose weight
is to stop beating yourself up about it.
He says 'The most important thing to do is to start feeling
better about yourself. It may sound odd, but you have
to respect who you are before you can make changes. When
I first met Vanessa , I asked her to imagine shutting
herself in a box away from the pressures of the outside
world. I asked her to concentrate on all her good points
and not let other people's opinions about her come in..
She had to think of herself as an individual and remember
she had a lot of personal strength. Most of all, she had
to believe she could change. As soon as she said 'yes,
you're right', I knew we were ready to start training.
'When you start a training schedule, even before you
begin to see a difference, you'll start to feel better,
fitter and less tired', promises Dennis.
'I was so pleased when Vanessa first turned to me at one
of our sessions and announced:'' I feel good today''.
She'd noticed that walking up and down the stairs no longer
left her feeling tired, he explains. For the first few
sessions, he taught Vanessa simple stretching exercises,
so she could feel the muscles they were going to work.
And they did the easiest exercise around - walking. Dennis
says: 'Just 10 minutes of walking every day will have
a big impact if you haven't exercised for a while.'
For the best results, you should commit to walking or
swimming every day on top of your usual training sessions.
